Primary Literacy Program
The first tenet of the BRCPS Primary Literacy program is the belief that all students can achieve if provided the opportunity. For that opportunity to occur, school resources must be harnessed and configured to provide world-class direct instructional services to its students. BRCPS has designed a comprehensive, research-based literacy program that incorporates a three-tiered approach to instruction with multiple levels of intervention services.
A Reading First School

BRCPS is a Reading First School
In 2003, Boston Renaissance Charter Public School received a Reading First grant designed to assist low-performing schools in expanding reading services for students in grades K-3. The funding from this grant enabled BRCPS to develop a more effective model of early literacy instruction by expanding and increasing the number of resources and services for struggling students. Since 2003, BRCPS has made steady and significant gains in reading achievement. Due to tremendous academic gains, BRCPS was selected as one of three schools in the state to receive additional funding, totaling over $800,000, for program expansion and the dissemination of best practices to partnering Boston Public Schools. Additionally, BRCPS was selected by the Massachusetts Department of Education to represent the state at the National Reading First Conference in Nevada.
