BRCPS specialists provide direct student services, consult with teachers, offer student supports, social skills groups, and prevention initiatives. In the 2008 school year BRCPS adopted a 3:1 service delivery model; 3 weeks of direct service to students and 1 week of consult, which allows service providers more time to meet with teachers to determine how skills are being transferred to the classroom setting. Over the years, Related Service Providers have expanded their practice to reach more students and focus on areas of prevention and intervention. These efforts have reduced special education referrals while increasing teacher capacity and understanding of services.
